Our Trident console is a London 16: a 24 channel, 16 buss analog mixing console from world-renowned console manufacturer, Trident.
This specific console was originally purchased from Trident by Minneapolis post-production house Audio Ruckus in 1992. Sometime in the mid-2000’s, the console found its way into the hands of a private party. In early 2014, we found the console for sale from the private party and immediately shot up to Brainerd to test it out and bring it home.
Once home, the console went through a complete overhaul. After consulting experts around the country, we began to upgrade and repair the console.
Over 1300 capacitors were replaced.
The power supply was beefed up.
Op amps were upgraded.
The VU meters were upgraded from the burnt-out light bulbs to matched-hue LEDs.
Channel labels were replaced with custom printing.
One of the major improvements was completed by Dan Kennedy, owner of Great River Electronics, a company renowned worldwide for high-end microphone preamps, equalizers, and compressors. Dan improved the master channel’s grounding scheme and made some special modifications on the talkback circuit. Dan also installed a new master fader.
Once finished, we had 24 high-quality channels of Trident preamp and EQ.
Many thanks to Dan Kennedy, Andy Borum, and Jim Chasteen for their help with this process.
